Bubble wrap baby
Shared by Ellie Beck
I was babysitting Maren and Lu during the summer when they were super young. Maren was obsessed with bubble wrap at the time. When it came time for bed, I made maren part ways with the bubble wrap. Babysitter rule 101 - remove all choking and suffocation hazards. Non negotiable. There were a lots of tears…to say the least. After she finally fell asleep, I checked in on her about an hour later. As I opened the door, I find little miss mare popping away at her bubble wrap IN HER CRIB. How she managed to get her hands on those bubbles, only Mare will know. So excited and incredibly proud of you Mare Bear. Love you 😘

My sweet Mare! I can’t believe you are graduating. I held you as a newborn, watched you grow up and now I watch you hold my babies. What a joy it’s been to be in your orbit. You are kind, thoughtful and oh so FUN! I can always count on you for a laugh, a hug, and a good time. You are so special and I love you very much! Sharing some of my favorite photos of you and us. You will do amazing things and I can’t wait to watch you!

It was when I first met you and your sister, and it was one of my first times meeting Ellen’s parents, and Grandpa Jack was there too. I remember being nervous. Talking to all the adults was a lot. Then I noticed you and your sister on the ground coloring. I joined you both, and it was the most relaxing part of the night! Congrats Maren!

Free spirit
Shared by Marney Keenan
When Maren was about 10years old, we had the Keenan’s’ Christmas Eve celebration at our house. After dinner and presents, Mare went around and gathered all the stray ribbons and tied them on herself —her wrists, legs, ankles, waist; as a necklace, a crown on her head, a burst of color and sparkle all over. She did this quietly, not aiming to draw attention (of course, she did) but simply amusing herself in her own characteristic, free spirit way. It was such a delight to watch her; it reminded me of a line from a Billy Joel song: “She’s got a way about her…” Many years later, she still has that whimsical, free spirit way about her; that singular ability to delight others without even trying. We love you always and forever,Mare!
